The first six months of 2026 brought in close to $75.04m, with 67,740 tonnes shipped abroad.

Kamel Rezig, minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, presented figures on Thursday 5 November, showing that Algeria's date exports earned $98.32m in 2025, up about 13% on 2024.

Algérie 360 reported that exports were worth $87.06m in 2024 before rising to $98.32m in 2025.

Sales continued in the first half of 2026, bringing in close to $75.04m, according to the figures Rezig presented.

Algeria exported 111,610 tonnes of dates in 2024 and 115,600 tonnes in 2025. In the first six months of 2026, shipments reached 67,740 tonnes.

According to the minister, the results show that demand for Algerian dates has held up and that sales outlets abroad have developed.

The sector has a large production potential, especially in the date-growing basins of the south.

The source describes Algeria as one of the main African exporters of dates, with the Saharan basins of Biskra, El Oued and Ouargla at the centre of production.

The Deglet Nour is the country's flagship variety and is sold in European, Asian and North American markets.

Algérie 360 also cited a TasteAtlas ranking that places Algeria first in the category of medium-sweet dates.

The source says the sector still needs to add more value, through packaging and higher-end positioning on export markets.

The figures show that date exports are still growing in value, according to Algérie 360.
