Over the same period, South Korea's imports of oil products fell 29%.

Algeria ranked third worldwide among suppliers of oil products to South Korea in the first nine months of the year, according to Al-Taqa data reported by Awras.

Algeria's average exports were 67,000 barrels a day. Japan was first, with 74,000 barrels a day, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) second, with 72,000.

South Korea's imports of oil products averaged 706,000 barrels a day from January to September. That was down 29% from 995,000 barrels a day in the same period last year.

Algeria and the UAE together averaged 139,000 barrels a day, about 20% of South Korea's imports over the period.

Five Arab countries were among the top 10 suppliers, led by the UAE and Algeria. Oman averaged 42,000 barrels a day, Qatar 30,000 and Kuwait about 22,000.

Together, the five Arab countries averaged 233,000 barrels a day, about 33% of South Korea's imports in the same period.

The list also included Libya, with about 21,000 barrels a day, and Saudi Arabia, with 18,000.

Data showed South Korea's imports fell in the first three quarters of the year compared with the same periods of 2025.

Sonatrach has also taken steps to strengthen its presence in the South Korean market.

In April, Noureddine Daoudi, chief executive of Sonatrach, held talks with South Korea's deputy foreign minister for economic affairs. The talks covered ways to develop cooperation in hydrocarbons, meaning oil and gas.
