The Gouraya National Park, created on 3 November 1984, covers 2,080 hectares above the town of Béjaïa.
In 2004 UNESCO made it a biosphere reserve.
The park shelters Barbary macaques, and its sea cliffs hold endemic plants, which grow only in this region.
Marked trails lead walkers to Fort Gouraya, on the summit of Mount Gouraya, and to Cap Carbon. Above the cape, the Pic des Singes, or Monkeys' Peak, is a viewpoint with an orientation table.
