About Djanet
The wilaya of Djanet lies in the far south-east of the Algerian Sahara. Its capital, Djanet, is the gateway to the Tassili n'Ajjer, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is wilaya number 56. It became a full wilaya in 2019, under law 19-12 of 11 December 2019, taken from the wilaya of Illizi, of which it had been a delegated wilaya since 2015. It has 2 communes, Djanet and Bordj El Haouas, in 1 daira.
