About Illizi
The wilaya of Illizi lies in the Sahara, in the far south-east of Algeria, on the border with Libya. Its neighbours include the wilayas of Ouargla and Tamanrasset. Its capital is the town of Illizi. It is wilaya number 33. In 2019 part of it became the wilaya of Djanet. It now has 4 communes. On its earlier boundaries it had 52,333 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
