About Médéa
The wilaya of Médéa lies in north-central Algeria, in the Tell Atlas, about 90 km south of Algiers. Its neighbours include the wilayas of Blida, Aïn Defla and Bouira. Its capital, Médéa, stands on the site of Lambdia, a Roman military post. It is wilaya number 26. In 2026 part of it became the wilaya of Ksar El Boukhari. Before that it had 64 communes in 19 dairas, and 819,932 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
