About Naâma
The wilaya of Naâma lies in western Algeria, on the border with Morocco. Its capital, Naâma, was chosen as a compromise after a dispute between the towns of Mécheria and Aïn Sefra. It is wilaya number 45. It was created in 1984, under law 84-09, from the wilaya of Saïda. It has 12 communes in 7 dairas. The wilaya had 192,891 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
