Sonatrach raises investment by 29% in 2025

Sonatrach, the public energy group, invested 1,078bn dinars (DZD) in Algeria in 2025, a rise of 29% on the previous year, according to its annual report. Echorouk Online reported the figures from the report, which the group published on its website.

The investment equals 7.9bn dollars (USD). Exploration and production took 69% of the total investment budget, making it the main area of spending.

The money went on exploring for oil and gas, and on developing and running deposits. Projects included fields at Touggourt and Tinhert, and work to keep production levels at the Hassi R'Mel field.

Sonatrach also spent money on upgrading and protecting its facilities and infrastructure. The aim was to make the transport of fuels more reliable and to meet the needs of the national market and international commitments.

The works included a new quay at the port of Skikda. They also included a new storage tank for liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the GL1K complex.

The group's total turnover reached 5,748bn dinars (DZD) in 2025. Of this, 5,230bn dinars (DZD) came from exports, and the net result was 603bn dinars (DZD).

The group also reported progress in cutting gas flaring, which is the burning of gas that comes out with oil. The total volume of flared gas was 2.61bn standard cubic metres, down 31% on 2020, the annual figures show.

The report said the group kept its development momentum despite difficult international conditions in the energy sector.
