Net profit reached 603bn dinars (DZD), while investment in Algeria rose 29% on the year before.

According to ObservAlgerie, Sonatrach, Algeria's oil and gas group, saw its revenue fall 11.9% in 2025, according to its annual report published in October 2026.

The group reported revenue of 5,748bn dinars (DZD), about 42.54bn dollars, compared with 6,523bn dinars (DZD) in 2024. Hydrocarbon exports brought in 5,230bn dinars (DZD), about 38.71bn dollars, the largest part of the total.

The results came as oil prices fell. The average price of a barrel of crude oil dropped from 82 dollars in 2024 to 69 dollars in 2025.

Production and sales

Sonatrach's primary hydrocarbon production reached 193.7 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE) in 2025, a slight rise of 0.03% on 2024. Natural gas made up 66% of this output, against 24% for crude oil. Condensates and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) each made up 5%.

Total sales reached 165.1 million TOE, up 1.4% from 162.8 million TOE in 2024. Sales on the domestic market rose 6%, from 71.5 million TOE to 76.1 million TOE.

Algerian refineries processed 26.2 million tonnes of crude oil, against 26.5 million in 2024. Their total output reached 30 million tonnes, a fall of 1%.

Investment and discoveries

Sonatrach's investment in Algeria reached 1,078bn dinars (DZD), about 7.9bn dollars, in 2025. This was a rise of 29% on the year before. Exploration and production took 69% of this investment, and refining and petrochemicals took 18%.

The group also announced 17 new hydrocarbon discoveries, all made with its own resources. Crude oil made up 68% of the finds, natural gas 28% and condensates 4%. The discoveries were in particular in the Berkine, Reggane, Illizi and Amguid Messaoud basins.

Exports

In 2025, Sonatrach exported 89 million TOE, according to the annual report. The group is the first supplier of natural gas to Italy and the second to Spain.

The report also describes the group as the second supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Turkey and Greece.

Among the infrastructure investments listed in the report are a new quay at Skikda port and an LNG storage tank.
