About Saïda
The wilaya of Saïda lies in western Algeria, on the western High Plateaux. It borders the wilayas of Mascara, El Bayadh, Sidi Bel Abbès and Tiaret. Its capital is the town of Saïda. In antiquity the area was under Roman rule, and the Romans kept a post near the modern town. It is wilaya number 20. It has 16 communes in 6 dairas. The wilaya had 330,641 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
