Tipaza

The wilaya of Tipaza lies on the Mediterranean coast west of Algiers. It borders the wilayas of Algiers, Blida, Aïn Defla and Chlef. Its capital, Tipaza, was a Roman colony, and its ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is wilaya number 42. It was created in 1984, under law 84-09, from the wilaya of Blida. It has 28 communes in 10 dairas. The wilaya had 591,010 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
