About Aflou
The wilaya of Aflou has its capital at Aflou, in the Djebel Amour, a range of the Saharan Atlas. The town stands at about 1,400 m and is one of the highest in Algeria. It is wilaya number 59. It was created in 2026 by law 26-06 of 4 April 2026, from the wilaya of Laghouat, of which it had been a delegated wilaya since 2023. It has 12 communes in 5 dairas.
