About Béchar
The wilaya of Béchar lies in the Sahara, in the west of Algeria, on the border with Morocco. Its neighbours include the wilaya of Naâma. Its capital is the town of Béchar, whose name is said to come from Arabic and to mean "bearer of good news". It is wilaya number 08. In 2019 part of it became the wilaya of Béni Abbès. It now has 11 communes in 6 dairas.
