About Bouira
The wilaya of Bouira lies in northern Algeria, south-east of Algiers, on the edge of Kabylie, with the Djurdjura mountains to the north. Its neighbours include the wilayas of Boumerdès, Tizi Ouzou, Béjaïa, Bordj Bou Arreridj, M'Sila and Médéa. In the past the region was known as the kingdom of Haz. It is wilaya number 10, and its capital is Bouira. It has 45 communes in 12 dairas. The wilaya had 695,583 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
