About Boumerdès
The wilaya of Boumerdès lies in north-central Algeria, on the Mediterranean coast, east of Algiers. Its neighbours include the wilayas of Algiers, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira. Its capital is the town of Boumerdès. In antiquity its coast had Phoenician and Roman towns, such as Rusuccuru, today Dellys. It is wilaya number 35. It has 32 communes in 9 dairas. The wilaya had 802,083 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
