About Guelma
The wilaya of Guelma lies inland in the north-east of Algeria, between Annaba and Constantine. It borders the wilayas of Annaba, Skikda, El Tarf, Constantine, Souk Ahras and Oum El Bouaghi. Its capital, Guelma, takes its name from Calama, the ancient city on its site. It is wilaya number 24. It has 34 communes in 10 dairas. The wilaya had 482,430 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
