The 25th tourism and travel fair opens in Algiers
The 25th International Tourism and Travel Fair (SITEV) ran in Algiers from 18 to 21 May. About 450 exhibitors from Algeria and 41 other countries took part.
The Minister of Tourism and Crafts, Houria Meddahi, opened the fair on Monday 18 May at the Palais des Expositions, Pins Maritimes. The slogan was "Algeria, authentic tourism and sustainable development".
About fifty start-ups promoting Algerian tourism online took part, alongside travel agencies, hotel groups, airlines including Air Algérie, banks and craftspeople from the South. Before the fair, journalists and tourism professionals from 59 countries toured Algiers, Annaba, Oran and Tlemcen.
The ministry said the fair aimed to prepare the summer season with good offers for families, Algerians from the diaspora and other visitors.
