Algeria became a member of WorldSkills International, the organisation behind the world championship for trades. Young trainees would compete for the first time in Shanghai in September.
The Minister of Vocational Training, Nassima Arhab, announced the membership on the evening of Tuesday 7 April, with the ministers of Agriculture and of the Knowledge Economy present. She said it showed Algeria's commitment to vocational training and gave young people a path to international competitions.
Algeria had held national skills olympiads in Oran in 2025 and had already joined WorldSkills Africa.
