56.18 per cent of school candidates passed the 2026 baccalauréat, about five points more than in 2025. Tizi Ouzou again had the best pass rate of any wilaya.

Pass rates

The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Sadaoui, gave the results in Algiers on Sunday 12 July. Of 588,611 school pupils who sat the exam, 327,029 passed, against 51.57 per cent in 2025.

Among 287,612 external candidates, 97,000 passed, or 43.31 per cent. 1,232 candidates scored 18 or more out of 20.

Best results and a warning

The best mark in the country, 19.26, went to Bouchra Hibat Allah Guerroumi of the Lycée Chahid Bouzira Ahmed in Tiaret, in technical mathematics. The best wilayas were Tizi Ouzou (67.15 per cent), Relizane, Chlef, Sidi Bel Abbès and Aïn Défla.

The best mark among diaspora pupils, 17.38, went to Meriem Khelfa at an international school in France.

The minister told families to use only official channels, after false results spread on social media.
