The Council of Ministers reviewed a national strategy against cancer to 2035 and ordered a study for an oncology hospital in every wilaya. It also set deadlines for projects in Niger and Chad.

Recovered funds and cancer

President Tebboune chaired the meeting on Sunday 3 May. He thanked the Prime Minister for recovering embezzled funds, including car-industry assets in Tissemsilt and Batna.

For the cancer strategy, he asked for an approach based on prevention, early screening and effective treatment, noting that care is free in Algeria. He ordered a study for a cancer hospital in each wilaya and a body to oversee the supply of cancer medicines.

Projects in Niger and Chad

For Niger, he ordered the power plant then under construction to be finished within three months (it opened on 3 June). For Chad, he asked for faster work on a cement plant of more than one million tonnes a year and for Algerian companies to build two sections of the Trans-Saharan Highway in Chad.
