Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb laid the first stone of a 40-megawatt power plant in N'Djamena. Algeria is building it as a gift to Chad, five days after opening a similar plant in Niger.

The ceremony took place on 8 June with the Energy Minister, Mourad Adjal, and the Prime Minister of Chad, Allamaye Halina.

The project follows an agreement signed between Algeria and Chad in May. Sonelgaz International, which built the Niamey plant, is carrying out the project.
