Campus France Algérie has opened applications for the 2027-2028 Eiffel scholarships, open until 6 January 2027.

Algeria ranks second among the countries sending international students to France, Algérie 360 reported, citing Campus France figures based on French higher education ministry data. Most Algerian students in France are enrolled at public universities, and they study at levels from licence (the first degree, similar to a bachelor's) to doctorate.

Others study at specialist schools, such as business, engineering, art and architecture schools, or take preparatory classes and higher technician programmes. For the 2025-2026 academic year, the French Embassy in Algeria and Campus France Algérie announced that several thousand study visas had been issued to Algerians.

Enrolled students are the total for one academic year, while visa holders are new arrivals. The new arrivals add to university exchanges between Algeria and France.

Campus France Algérie has opened applications for France Excellence Eiffel scholarships for the 2027-2028 academic year. The call is open until 6 January 2027, inclusive, for Master and doctoral students.

The scholarship is run by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, and it aims to attract top international students to French higher education. It supports high-level study and trains future managers in several priority sectors.

Applicants can choose from seven fields in two broad areas. The first area covers science and technology, including biology and health, ecological transition, mathematics and digital studies, and engineering sciences.

The second covers human and social sciences, including history, French language and civilisation, law and political science, and economics and management.

The scholarship pays a monthly allowance, and its amount varies with the level of study. Funding lasts up to 24 months for a first year of Master (M1), 12 months for a second year of Master (M2) and 36 months for an engineering diploma.

Scholars can also have some transport, insurance and cultural activity costs covered.

French institutions set their own deadlines for receiving files, and these can fall before 6 January 2027.
