Algerians will elect their communal and wilaya assemblies on Saturday 28 November 2026. It is the first time these elections will be held on a Saturday instead of a Thursday.

President Tebboune signed the decree calling the vote, and it appeared in the Official Journal on Sunday 30 August. An exceptional revision of the electoral lists ran from 6 to 17 September.

The last local elections were held on 27 November 2021. On 24 August Saad Arous, a senator from the presidential third, was named head of the National Independent Election Authority (ANIE), replacing Mohamed Charfi, who resigned in November 2025.
