President Tebboune made a three-day state visit to Turkey and co-chaired the first Algerian-Turkish High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council. The two countries signed agreements in trade, investment, transport, media and agriculture.

The agreements were signed on Thursday 7 May at the Presidential Complex in Ankara. They include a television protocol between EPTV and TRT, a memorandum between Algeria's investment agency AAPI and the Turkish Investment Office, and a joint declaration to start talks on a preferential trade agreement.

Other texts cover road transport of passengers and goods, plant protection, standards, small businesses, disaster management, postal services and telecommunications, the mutual recognition of driving licences, and care for veterans of the war of independence.

A business forum spoke of a strategic partnership worth 10 billion US dollars. The President returned to Algiers on 8 May.
