Remote passport renewal to reach more consulates

Algerians abroad will soon be able to renew their passports remotely at more consulates. The service started as a pilot at the Consulate General in Paris in June.
The Secretary of State for the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaïb, made the announcement on Tuesday 8 September. He said the Paris pilot had gone well and a second phase would start soon at several other consulates.
After that, the service will be extended step by step to the whole consular network. The aim is to shorten waiting times and save people long journeys to a consulate.
