Sofia Boutella

Sofia Boutella is an Algerian actress and dancer who has starred in major Hollywood films. She was born on 3 April 1982 in Bab El Oued, a district of Algiers, and grew up between Algeria and France.

In 1992, when she was 10, the family left for Paris because of the civil war in Algeria. There she trained in rhythmic gymnastics, a sport that mixes gymnastics and dance, and joined the French national team at 18.

Dance soon became her path, first hip-hop and street dance, then 6 years as one of Madonna's dancers, from 2006 to 2012.

The spy film Kingsman: The Secret Service was her breakthrough in 2014. Star Trek Beyond and The Mummy followed, and later she led the Rebel Moon films, while also working in French and independent cinema.
