About Relizane
The wilaya of Relizane lies in north-west Algeria. It borders the wilayas of Mostaganem, Chlef, Mascara, Tiaret and Tissemsilt. Its capital is Relizane, whose name comes from Ighil Izane, "the burnt hill". It is wilaya number 48. It was created in 1984, under law 84-09, from the wilaya of Mostaganem. It has 38 communes in 13 dairas. The wilaya had 726,180 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
