About Tizi Ouzou
The wilaya of Tizi Ouzou lies in northern Algeria, on the Mediterranean coast, in Kabylie, east of Algiers. It borders the wilayas of Boumerdès, Bouira and Béjaïa. Its capital is the town of Tizi Ouzou, a Berber name that means "pass of the broom". It is wilaya number 15. It has 67 communes in 21 dairas. The wilaya had 1,127,607 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
