The wilaya of Aïn Témouchent lies in western Algeria, on the Mediterranean coast. It borders the wilayas of Oran, Sidi Bel Abbès and Tlemcen. Its capital is Aïn Témouchent. It holds the ruins of Siga, capital of the Berber king Syphax. It is wilaya number 46. It was created in 1984, under law 84-09, from the wilaya of Sidi Bel Abbès. It has 28 communes in 8 dairas. It had 371,239 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
