About Sétif
The wilaya of Sétif lies in the north-east of Algeria, on the High Plateaux, about 300 km east of Algiers. Its neighbours include the wilayas of Jijel, Béjaïa, Mila, Batna, M'Sila and Bordj Bou Arreridj. Its capital, Sétif, stands on the site of the Roman town of Sitifis. It is wilaya number 19. It has 60 communes in 20 dairas. The wilaya had 1,489,979 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
