The second Timimoun International Short Film Festival brings short films and filmmakers to Timimoun in the Algerian Sahara from 5 to 10 November 2026.
The Timimoun International Short Film Festival returns for its second edition, held in Timimoun in the heart of the Algerian Sahara. It brings together filmmakers, cinema professionals and audiences to discover short films from Algeria, Africa and around the world.
The festival's official competition celebrates three forms of short filmmaking: fiction, documentary and animation. Selected films will compete for the Golden Gourara awards, alongside distinctions for directing, screenwriting and acting.
The programme also includes the Yamina Chouikh competition, dedicated to films made with mobile phones by young filmmakers from Timimoun.
Beyond the screenings and competitions, the festival supports emerging talent through filmmaking workshops and training initiatives. This second edition continues to give short films a place to be seen, discussed and celebrated, while bringing new cinematic voices to the cultural landscape of southern Algeria.
