About Tissemsilt
The wilaya of Tissemsilt lies in the centre-west of Algeria, on the High Plateaus. Its capital is Tissemsilt. The name comes from the Berber for "sunset", and under French rule the town was called Vialar. It is wilaya number 38. It was formed in 1984, under law 84-09, from parts of the wilayas of Algiers and Tiaret. It has 22 communes in 8 dairas. The wilaya had 294,476 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
