About Casbah of Algiers

The Casbah of Algiers, the old city and historic heart of the capital. Its narrow, winding streets, white houses, historic mosques and small craft workshops make a lovely walk.

The Casbah of Algiers joined the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. UNESCO describes it as a unique kind of medina, on one of the finest coastal sites of the Mediterranean. Its citadel, old mosques and Ottoman style palaces still stand.
