The Mohamed Boudiaf Olympic complex groups the Stade du 5 Juillet 1962, an athletics track, a tennis complex, an aquatic centre and La Coupole.
Oscar Niemeyer designed La Coupole, a domed sports hall, for the 1975 Mediterranean Games. Its dome, shaped like a bulb, is made of prestressed concrete. The architect based it on his earlier Oca building in Ibirapuera Park.
