Chéraga

Chéraga is a commune of Algiers that reaches the coast at Club des Pins. Under French rule the name was written Chéragas, and the commune kept its name after independence. It gives its name to the Chéraga circonscription administrative, which also groups Ouled Fayet, Aïn Benian, Dely Ibrahim and El Hammamet. This group of communes is one of 13 created by decree 26-112 of 8 March 2026. The commune had 80,824 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
