About El Hammamet
El Hammamet is a seaside commune of Algiers, home to the Cap Caxine lighthouse and the Bainem forest. It is also known by the French name Bains-Romains, meaning "Roman baths". It belongs to the Chéraga circonscription administrative, one of the 13 groups of communes created by decree 26-112 of 8 March 2026. It had 23,990 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
