Tickets can already be bought online, by phone or through travel agencies, and the frequency doubles in March 2027.
Travellers from Algiers can now book seats on a new Air Algérie route to Athens, the capital of Greece, which starts on 24 December. The national airline announced the route on Tuesday in a statement, according to DNAlgérie.
Bookings are open on the airline's official website, at its call centre and through travel agencies, TSA Algérie reported.
At first, the route will run one flight a week. From March 2027, the frequency will rise to two flights a week, the airline said.
Air Algérie described the route as part of its plan to grow its international network. The company added that the route will strengthen air links between Algeria and Greece, giving travellers more options to move between the two countries.
The announcement does not yet give flight times, operating days or fares, DNAlgérie reported. Algérie Eco, citing the APS news agency, also reported that bookings had just opened.
Athens and its heritage
DNAlgérie described Athens as a city with well-known historic and cultural heritage, including the Acropolis, the Parthenon and remains of ancient civilisation. According to the same report, the route also gives Greek travellers a direct link to Algiers.
The airline's statement came a few days before the end-of-year holidays, DNAlgérie reported. The first flight is due to leave on 24 December.
