Algérie Poste places the cause in telecoms and fibre optic works outside its own branches.

Customers of Algérie Poste, the state postal operator, face longer queues at counters in the west of Algiers, where withdrawals and other transactions are slowed in branches of Chéraga commune.

Algérie 360 reported that withdrawals, deposits and other routine operations are moving slowly at the counters. Queues are longer than usual.

Algérie Poste said no internal fault explains the situation. Its terminals, software and staff are working normally.

The problem comes from outside the post offices. Heavy works are under way on the telecommunications network and the fibre optic installations that serve the area.

These works have disrupted the network link on which the postal computer systems depend entirely. A stable connection is needed for a clerk to confirm a transaction in real time, Algérie Poste said.

Several branches in the region are affected. Algérie Poste said a return to normal depends on the completion of the works on the network infrastructure.

Algérie Poste said it has begun coordination with the technical bodies responsible for the works. Its aim is to shorten the interruption and restore the connection as soon as possible.

Its teams are following progress day by day.

In its statement, Algérie Poste apologised to citizens for the inconvenience. It also thanked customers for their understanding of a constraint beyond its control.

Algérie Poste said that once the network teams finish their operations, usual services should return to their normal pace in all the branches concerned.
