Tipaza expressway opens
Abdelkader Djellaoui, minister of public works and basic infrastructure, opened the modernised Douaouda to Bou Ismaïl expressway in Tipaza on Saturday.
The 10km road starts at the boundary of Algiers wilaya. Works included an asphalt surface, a concrete central reservation, widened engineering structures, rainwater drains and public lighting along the route.
Algerie360 reported that the road should ease traffic on the Tipaza coast and reduce jams, especially at busy times and in the summer season. It will also cut travel time between the capital and Tipaza, and improve road safety.
During the same visit, the minister opened a rebuilt structure on National Road 11 (RN 11) at kilometre point 34+146 in Douaouda commune.
He also inspected work on an interchange on the Bou Ismaïl to Cherchell expressway in Tipaza commune. The 1.2km engineering structure is meant to increase traffic capacity and improve the link to the motorway.
The minister asked officials to speed up the work so the interchange is finished within the set deadline.
