About El Ançor
El Ançor lies about 30 km south west of Oran, near the resorts of Aïn El Turk and Bousfer. Local histories explain its name as "the spring" or "the springs". Its hills of scrub and pine drop to cliffs and the sea, and its coast includes Les Andalouses beach and Cap Lindlès. It belongs to the daira, or district, of Aïn El Turk and had 10,882 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
