About Boutlelis
Boutlelis is the seat of the daira, or district, of Boutlelis, which also includes Aïn El Kerma and Misserghin. It takes its name from Sidi Ali Boutlelis, a marabout, or local holy man, of the 14th century. The town stands on the route between Oran and Tlemcen, near the Sebkha d'Oran, and the M'sila forest lies to its north. It had 22,898 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
