About Skikda

The wilaya of Skikda lies in the north-east of Algeria, on the Mediterranean coast. It borders the wilayas of Annaba, Guelma, Constantine, Mila and Jijel. Its capital, Skikda, stands on the site of the ancient port of Rusicade. It is wilaya number 21. It has 38 communes in 13 dairas. The wilaya had 898,680 inhabitants at the 2008 census (ONS).
