University of Oran 2 Mohamed Ben Ahmed

The University of Oran 2 Mohamed Ben Ahmed, created in 2014 when the University of Oran, founded in 1967, was divided in two. Its main campus is at Belgaïd, in Bir El Djir. It has five faculties and an institute of maintenance and industrial safety. The faculties cover foreign languages, law and political science, economics and management, social sciences, and earth and universe sciences. It had about 25,000 students in the 2025/2026 academic year. The university is named after Mohamed Ben Ahmed (1920 to 2004), known as Commandant Si Moussa, an officer of the National Liberation Army.
