Douera Dam
The Douera Dam holds a reservoir of 87 million cubic metres on the Ben Amar river, about 2 km southwest of the town. Water brought from the Mazafran and Harrach rivers helps to fill it. It supplies drinking water and irrigation for the Mitidja plain.
The Douera dam lies on the Ben Amar river, about 2 km south west of the town of Douera. It holds 87 million cubic metres of water, filled by transfers from the Mazafran and El Harrach rivers. Works began in January 2005, and the dam entered service in October 2016.
The dam irrigates 17,200 hectares of the Mitidja and the Sahel and supplies part of the drinking water of western Algiers and Blida. The Turkish firm Nurol built it for the national dams agency.
