About Memorial to the Spanish Civil War Refugees
A marble monolith in the Sidi M'hamed garden, on the seafront of Oran, unveiled on 1 June 2014. It recalls the Spanish Republican refugees who sailed from Alicante to Oran on the Stanbrook in March 1939. It also honours the help that Algerians gave them. The Spanish foreign minister, José Manuel Albares, visited it on 27 March 2026.
