Former Baudens Hospital

The former Baudens military hospital, in the protected historic quarter of Sidi El Houari, in Oran, facing the port. It was built in the middle of the 19th century to add beds to the Oran hospital, and a tunnel linked the two. The building had a garden on its first floor. It worked as a hospital until the early 1970s and now stands empty on a site of about 1.2 hectares. In May 2025 the wilaya assembly transferred it to Sonatrach, which plans to restore it as a training centre. Visitors admire the building and its history.
