800 Algiers families receive housing keys on anniversary

The handover was timed for the 72nd anniversary of the Revolution of Liberation, and a nationwide distribution of 133,780 homes and aid was announced.
800 families in Algiers received new homes on Sunday, 1 November, at a ceremony supervised by Mohamed Abdennour Rabehi, minister-wali of Algiers.
Algérie 360 reported that the ceremony was timed to coincide with the 72nd anniversary of the outbreak of the Revolution of Liberation. The wilaya services said in a statement that all housing formulas were included in the operation.
Officials at the ceremony included Mohamed El Habib Ben Boulaïd, head of the Algiers wilaya assembly (APW), the wilaya's secretary general and members of the APW. Parliamentarians from both chambers also attended, together with representatives of the organisations of the revolutionary family and the Algerian Muslim Scouts.
The Ministry of Housing was represented by a member of staff of the National Housing Bank (BNH). Beneficiaries and their relatives were also present.
The day before, the housing minister, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, announced the start on Sunday of a wide distribution covering all wilayas. The total reached 133,780 homes and aid, all formulas combined, so Algiers accounts for only a fraction of it.
On Saturday, Belaribi officially launched the first batch of AADL 3, with 3,789 units in 12 wilayas. Nearly 950,000 applicants have already paid their first instalment. Only a small minority of them are in this first batch, so most applicants will not receive a home in this wave. The stories do not say when the next batch will be announced.
Algérie 360 also reported that the state has allocated 850,000 units for the programme under the 2025, 2026 and 2027 finance laws.
On 5 July, for the 64th anniversary of independence, more than 179,000 homes and aid were allocated at the same time across the country.
