A technical fault on a main water pipe in Bachdjerrah is delaying supply in several neighbourhoods of the capital, and this is the second such delay announced in recent days.

The Water and Sanitation Company of Algiers (SEAAL) said a fault on a main pipe in Bachdjerrah will delay water supply in several capital neighbourhoods.

The company said the repair work will delay the water programme in Bachdjerrah, on Hanafi Hadjres Street and in the El Badr neighbourhood. It added that four other neighbourhoods will also be affected in part.

The delay will also reach the El Kouba commune, where the Laprovale subdivision will be affected, including the 286 and 648 housing units.

The new problem comes two days after SEAAL announced another delay in its water programme in parts of the capital. That earlier delay was caused by repairs to a main pipe in Bachdjerrah, which was hit by a technical fault on Tuesday.

The earlier statement named the El Badr neighbourhood, an area of 488 homes, and the Bachdjerrah 2 and 3 neighbourhoods as affected by the repairs. In El Kouba, part of the Ben Omar neighbourhood was also expected to be affected, and part of the Djasr Kasentina commune.

For residents of these areas, water will arrive later than the usual programme while the work continues.

SEAAL said supply will return to the usual programme gradually, once the work is finished and the technical fault is repaired.
