Flights will start at one a week, and booking for the new route is already open.

The new link connects Algiers, the capital of Algeria, with Athens, the capital of Greece.

Awras reported that the route will start with one flight a week. Two flights a week will operate from March 2027, when the frequency rises from one.

Booking for the new route is open. Passengers can buy tickets through the airline's official website, its call centre or its commercial agencies.

The route follows an earlier announcement of five new international destinations, made a week before.

The airline said these five destinations are part of its work to develop its international network.

Four of the destinations are in Africa: Conakry, Brazzaville, Lagos and Tripoli.

The four African routes add to the group's air network across the continent.

The fifth destination is Shanghai, in China.

The Shanghai route extends the group's presence in the Chinese market. With Beijing and Guangzhou, the Shanghai route raises the number of Chinese cities the group serves to three.

The Athens route is part of the airline's wider plan to expand in international markets.
