Four of the five destinations are in Africa, and Shanghai makes the airline's third Chinese city.

Air Algérie will open five new international routes from Algiers, starting with a flight to Conakry in Guinea on 25 October, in a move to expand its network.

Awras and DNAlgerie reported the announcement, which the airline made on Saturday, 24 October.

Brazzaville, Lagos and Shanghai open on 26 October, and Tripoli follows two days later on 28 October.

Four of the five destinations are in Africa, which the airline said will widen its presence on the continent.

The choice of Lagos has an economic side, because the city is one of the main centres of business in Nigeria.

Brazzaville and Conakry add more links to Central Africa and West Africa respectively, extending the airline's reach in both regions. Tripoli extends the airline's network to Libya, a neighbouring country with which regional trade is important.

For travellers, the routes offer more choice for personal, business and trade trips from Algiers.

The new links could also help companies and professionals who trade with these countries and cities.

Shanghai is the airline's third city in China, after Beijing and Guangzhou. The route links Algiers directly with one of China's main economic and trade centres.

Flight times, frequencies and fares are to be checked directly with the airline.
